Sound Installation

In-Between Breaths

Medium: 2 exciter speakers placed on a window, two channel amplifier, audio recordings and MaxMSP

The work emphasizes sounds as vibrational immediacy in-between human breaths. It focuses on the possibilities of creating spatial sonic volumes resonating the window display and the façade of the building as a breathing device. When face-to-face encounters have been limited and drastically reduced during the last months, sharing air acted as an ultimate form of intimacy. Those installations highlighted domestic soundscape recording of people's sounds when asked to listen to their amplified bodily exhalation using headphones.

The sonic scenery installed in the windows amplifies and reconstructs circles of human breathing by using generative sound processing that synchronizes and phases the recording during the time. The situated installation is an aeriform process that navigates from inside to outside of the bodies, giving attention to neglecting the gaze of the reception of the exhalations, making presence the contour and corporeality.
